Here's my humble entry for the Merrell diorama contest. The topic was "Your favourite fall memory", and for a birdwatcher like me, what else can be more exciting than watching bird migration? I am lucky, because I live close to the plains where the migrating cranes gather and prepare for the long trip southward: there were 100.000 cranes this year! Of course there's no way to get this close to them, they are ultra-shy. One of my dreams is to make a good photo of them (so I need some serious camera upgrade.)
I reeeeeally enjoyed making this diorama, maybe I should think about making other similar stuff as well. Thanks Merrell for "entertaining" me!
It took me around 5 days to make this, but most of the time was waiting for stuff to dry.
Used materials:
Shoebox, many different kinds of paper, aluminium wire, fishing line, recycle cloth, watercolor, glue (omg, much-much glue!), and scissors for cutting.
Details that I couldn't include in the picture! (for several reasons)
1. The backsides are also painted, with typical scene from the Hortobágy plains of Hungary (where the cranes gather), for example a draw well.
2. The "water" is shiny and have some small waves.
3. The lens of the binocular will be transparent... about 2 days later.
I know... the photo is not very good, but I missed the sunlight so I had to make something with my lamps.
